Nabraj Lama is a research scholar based in Kathmandu, Nepal. He has a professional objective to contribute for mainstreaming backward communities and excluded groups in the socio-cultural and political-economic affairs of the state. He holds a BA in Development Studies from Kathmandu University and MA in Economics from Tribhuvan University.
He is involved in researching water resources, international affairs, political economy, Energy, and Tourism issues of Nepal. He has extensive field-based research experience – both academic and developmental projects. He has an experience of working with The World Bank Nepal; Helvetas; Swiss Inter-cooperation Nepal; Heifer International Nepal; Central Department of Sociology/Anthropology, Tribhuvan University; and Siddhartha Connecting Inc. Pvt. Ltd under various capacities. He has also worked with India China Institute (ICI), The New School University as Research Associate in two different projects entitled, “Everyday Religion and Sustainable Environment in the Himalayas” (ERSEH) in 2012 and Sacred Himalaya Initiative (SHI) in 2016. He has worked on the research project entitled Energy on the Move: Longitudinal perspectives on energy transitions among marginal populations (A comparative study) of Department of Anthropology, Durham University, UK.
Internationally, he presented a paper on the title “Community Forestry: A Success Story of Nepal in Environmental.” at Musashi Institute of Technology (currently known as Tokyo City University), Yokohama, Japan in 2007. The paper entitled, “The shifting transnational livelihood strategies of Himalayan people: A comparative case study of Limi and Rasuwa” was presented in Himalayan Studies Conference at the University of Colorado Boulder, USA. He presented his research findings on the energy status of informal settlers of Nepal in 2018 at the Nepal Study Days conference, Britain – Nepal Academic Council, Durham University, UK.
He has extensively traveled more than 60 districts of Nepal and internationally; he has traveled to Japan, Thailand, China, India, South Korea, the United States of America (USA), Kenya, United Arab Emirates (UAE), the United Kingdom (UK), and Canada.
He is engaged in Monitoring, Evaluation and Quality Control of various projects. Similarly, he is extensively providing counseling services based on his personal and professional experiences to an individual, groups including organizations and family.
